Telescopic Trucks, also known as Telehandlers or Teleporters, come in two different types, Rough Terrain or Standard. They are used in many industries, including construction and agricultural.
Telescopic Handlers are all terrain vehicles with either two or four wheel steer/drive. Due to the fact that they extend the load forward of the front wheels getting progressively further away they act very much like mobile cranes, requiring a great deal of skill and concentration for them to be effective and safe.
CITB (CPCS) or ITSSAR training?
First of all you need to decide which certificate is most suitable for you. In general, if you work, or wish to work for a large Construction Company then you will need a CITB (CPCS) card. Alternatively if you work on smaller sites or in other industries other than Construction then ITSSAR would be more suitable. The most economical route by far is the ITSSAR route.
The telehandler training course covers essential features of telescopic handler operation and maintenance, how to avoid the potential dangers during operation, how to assess loads, move them safely and how to get the best from your telehandler in different conditions.
Attachments are commonly fitted to enhance the variety of tasks that these expensive vehicles can perform. Popular attachments are side shift, fork positioners and also non hydraulic attachments such as jibs, sand/grain buckets and a bale spear.
Types of forklift training courses available are novice, refresher and training for individuals with limited/previous experience. Forklift certificate issued on successful completion
Telescopic handler training can be completed for both construction employment which requires a CPCS accreditation or a general warehouse employment which only requires a generic accreditation based on what your employer accepts.
